ABT’s tuning package for the Audi A6 is designed so it can turns a frankly boring executive saloon into something effervescent and cool. It is a nice blend of sportiness and elegance, even though that Audi’s front-end is still kinda questionable. ABT garnishes the car with a front lip, side skirts, a rear apron, a boot spoiler and new tailpipes.

The looks are further enhanced by using a set of ABT turbine design wheels, available in 19 to 21-inches, and a suspension kit that drops the car by a few inches.

As for the performance, which ever diesel engine you go for, ABT has got you covered. They begin with the base 2.0 liter TDI, and tune it from its rather depressing 174 hp standard output to a more reasonable 204 hp. Then there’s the 3.9 liter V6 TDI which comes with different power outputs. The 201 hp version gets boosted to 266 hp, the 245 hp version to 296, and the brilliant 313 hp version up to a healthy 355 hp.The brakes are also improved accordingly.

SEMA tuning show in Las Vegas is not just for the American tuner to show off their latest kits for the American cars. In the same way that American tuners use events like Essen Motor Show to their advantage, European tuners want a piece of SEMA action.

VW Group specialist ABT is the first to announce its intention to take part at this year’s SEMA with one of their finest creations based on the Audi A6. Well, it is fine by European standards, as it is powered by a 3.0 liter diesel engine. Not sure how it’ll go down in the land of muscle and burnout.

ABT Audi AS6 is powered by a V6 TDI turbodiesel tuned to make 286 horsepower and over 500 lb-ft (678 Nm) of torque. That is a huge amount of torque by any standard, and will result in great acceleration capabilities.

The AS6 is also equipped with an ABT styling pack, consisting of front and rear spoilers, rear fascia, side skits, and a set of 20-inch wheels. ABT also supplies sport lowered suspension and high performance brake packages for this car.

If for whatever reason this 720 horsepower Audi RS6 by MTM didn’t float your boat, the other Audi expert, ABT Sportline, has a similar package that you might interest you. It is a bit less powerful and a tad slower than MTM’s RS6, but it has little ABT touches here and there that make it unique.

You get a set of ABT turbine-design wheels available from 20 to 22-inch in size with cool dark finish, blacked-out tailpipes connected to a sport stainless-steel exhaust system, and unique carbon fiber mirror caps. The car looks really rather handsome. But then again, the C7 RS6 was a good-looking car in the first place. Inside, you get a combination of leather, Alcantara and carbon fiber trimming.

In terms of power and speed, the Audi RS6 by ABT packs a sizable 700 horsepower and 880 Nm of torque; a remarkable gain over the standard 560 hp and 700 Nm. That is the thing Audi RS engines. Give them to the right man and they can extract a million horsepower out of them.

With that kind of firepower this practical family wagon sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and can reach a top speed of 320 km/h. Most of that awesome performance is down to the raw power of the engine, but we shouldn’t forget the vital role of Audi’s brilliant Quattro all-wheel-drive system.

ABT Sportsline is a famous name on the world of tuning, especially Audi tuning. Now the two German firms are taking their relationship to the next level but not in the way you think. Usually when a tuner joins forces with a car maker they become a new subsidiary of the big corporation. Not this time.

This time the tuner has become a racing partner for the car maker. Audi apparently wanted to be involved in the new Formula E series that starts next year, putting battery-powered Formula type car against each other. But they didn’t want a direct involvement, in case the series turn out to be a failure, so they used ABT as a proxy.

So Audi Sport ABT Formula E Team was formed, and it will now be put forward to the FIA for final approval as the seventh outfit to enter the new global electric race series. They join IndyCar outfits Andretti Autosport and Dragon Racing, Asia’s China Racing and Super Aguri and fellow European squads Drayson Racing and e.dams.

ABT Sportline is of course not a complete stranger with motorsport, having worked on many DTM projects with Audi, and earlier in Formel ADAC and Formula Three. They haven’t worked on electric cars, but hey, there is a first time for everything.

Head of Audi Motorsport Dr Wolfgang Ullrich commented: “We’ve been watching this new project of the FIA with great interest and are delighted that ABT Sportsline as one of our close and long-standing partners will be involved right from the beginning. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for the squad on tackling this new challenge and are planning to support its commitment with drivers from our factory line-up if required.”

Not that the standard Audi S3 is anything but a little monster, packing 300 horsepower when it comes out of Ingolstadt. But you argue that it is not exciting enough. There are hot hatches with less power that give you a bigger fizzing sensation. So ABT Sportline stepped in and announced they are going to solve the problem.

And how went about doing that? Simple, they added a good old bout of power. That’s right. They decided the S3 needs even more horses if it’s ever going to make the hair stand on the back of the driver’s neck. So they took the 2.0 TFSI and fiddled with it until the horsepower hand on the dyno machine settled on 370.

With the extra oomph, ABT Audi S3 can now accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds quicker than the standard. That doesn’t sound like much, but that’s difference between winning and losing a drag race.

The tuner can also hook you up with a wide range of ABT alloy wheels available in different sizes from 18 to 20 inch and sport suspension system, but that’s about it for now.

ABT Sportline revealed some of its finest creations to be displayed at this year’s Essen Motor Show, and among them there is this little beast, the VW Polo R WRC Street. This car has been the subject of many tuning programs recently. ABT’s take on the car extract 290 horsepower from its 2.0 liter TSI engine.

That’s a healthy improvement over the car’s standard 220 horsepower, and when paired with 420 nm of torque, it can take the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds and on to a top speed of 260 km/h. The cost of the engine treatment, including the bespoke ABT Power chip tuning software, is 1,949 €.

ABT VW Polo R WRC also gets a couple of new design 18-inch wheels, including a very special DR series in gunmetal with 215/35 R18 tires that costs just over 3,000 € for a complete set.

All you get for the interior, for the time being, is a set of black with silver embroidered ABT logo floor mats and some illuminated sills, again with ABT logo.

Another one of ABT’s Essen-bound VW Group cars is this magnificent thing based on the Audi RS5 Coupe. They call it the ABT Audi RS5-R, because the DTM-inspired modifications are so deep the car definitely deserved a new name. Visually, and mechanically, this is one of the sickest RS5s we’ve ever seen.

ABT didn’t go crazy with horsepower on this car and settled only for a new exhaust system with side pipes in front of the rear wheels, like a Viper. It allows the V8 engine in this car to breathe more easily, and the result of that is an increase in output to 470 horsepower.

And the result of that is 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds and a limited top speed of 303 km/h.

The highlight of ABT Audi RS5-R, however, is its sporty styling kit including revised bumper with large air intakes, and a carbon fiber aero kit consisting of a front splitter, winglets, side skirts, rear wing and diffuser. The front wings are also modified to match the bumper. You can have any wheel design you like, but ABT recommends ER-F 9.5 x 20 inch models with Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT in 275/30 R20.

For the interior, ABT has gone for an expressive black-red Alcantara cover for the sport bucket seats, carbon fiber door panels, 4-point safety belts and a high-grade steel rollover cage. The DTM theme continues with a carbon and Alcantara steering wheel with LED shift indicators.

The cherry for the top of ABT’s Essen cake is a heavily tricked-out Golf VII GTI. The car gets not only a heavily styling makeover that gives it a super mean and aggressive appearance, it also gets the power to go with it. It has 300 horsepower.

Of course, 300hp is not crazy power, but when you realize the standard car, which is a pretty awesome machine, has only 210, you get all hot for the ABT Golf GTI Dark Edition. With that kind of power, the GTI goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 258 km/h.

As for the styling, the car gets dark taillights, mirror caps and headlight covers to complement its side skirts, front spoiler and front skirt, the trunk lid attachment and rear skirt set with four-pipe chromed black exhaust system. A set of 20-inch ABT CR wheels in black with 235/30 R20 high-performance tires complete the look. ABT has softened the edges of this dark machine with some very nice red accenting.

The uber-Golf also gets ABT height adjustable suspension kit, but there is no word on any interior modification except for some fancy red and black floor mats.

The latest iteration of Audi RS7 by ABT is one that gives the word ‘overpowered’ a whole new meaning. The standard RS7 with its 560-hp and 700 Nm V8 engine is plenty fast enough by anyone’s standard. The car’s main problem is the lack of feel and thrill you expect from a super saloon. Still, ABT thinks a few more horses will solve the issues.

So they came up with this new power package that boosts the out of the 4.0 liter bi-turbo engine to 700 horsepower and 880 Nm of torque. In doing so, the kit’s bespoke software also removes the top speed limited, enabling the RS7 to reach 320 km/h. For those who may find that a bit scary, ABT offers a less powerful version with 666 horsepower, 830 Nm of torque, and a top speed of 305 km/h.

The price of the 700-hp package is 11.809 Euros, while the 666-hp version costs a more reasonable 6.909 Euros.

If we were to tune the Audi RS7, we’d leave the engine as it is and convert the car to rear-wheel-drive. That would make things a lot more exciting. But hey, that wouldn’t be very practical. Besides the engine upgrade, Audi RS7 by ABT also gets a range of 20 and 21-inch wheels costing well over 5,000 Euros, a sport exhaust, and some interior mods like special floor mats and illuminated sills. They leave the exterior pretty much standard.

Those who choose to buy a 300-hp hatchback are the kind who can never get enough horsepower regardless of the car’s size and intended role. So while ABT’s latest project, which is a 370-hp package for the Golf 7 R, may seem pointless to you, it is just the thing for the power hungry hot hatch fanatics.

The new Golf R by ABT gets a 23 percent hike in power, which apart from the 370 horsepower output, also includes 460 Nm of torque, up from 380. The extra oomph has a profound effect on the performance, as it drops the 0 to 100 km/h time from 5.1 seconds to 4.5, and increases the top speed from 250 km/h to 265.

Exhilarating performance is only part of this package. The 2014 Golf R by ABT also features a massive body kit, consisting of front grille, front spoiler with an integrated blade, head light covers, mirror caps, side skirt add-ons, a rear wing, tail gate and rear skirt add-on and the matching, dark ER-C wheels.

Again, the boy racer looks may not appeal to a lot of people. But the hot hatch crowd is going to love it. If anything, they’ll be made why the rear spoiler isn’t bigger, and why the exhaust isn’t louder.

Every year at the Geneva Motor Show ABT Sportline is one of the most active tuners, bringing along the best of their works based on VW Group cars. Here’s one of their finest creations set for Geneva debut, an extreme version of the Audi RS6 Avant with a colossal 730 horsepower power output.

The standard Audi RS6 is quite a beast in its own right with a 560 horsepower twin-turbo V8 that generates over 700 Nm of torque. When ABT is through with it though, those numbers have gone up to 730 horsepower and 920 Nm.

The latest Audi RS6 by ABT is the baddest, most insane version of the car presented by the German tuner. They have less crazy versions of it available, but this one is what all their experience and know-how culminates to create a one-of-a-kind estate car capable of amazing feats.

To make sure the RS6-R, as ABT calls this car, remains exclusive, the production run is limited to 25 units, and each car is fitted with a special body kit and 22-inch wheels. The choice of color is up to you, but the gloss black paint job with red accents featured on this car is just the business.

Other features of the Audi RS6 by ABT include bespoke exhaust system, bespoke interior treatment, and a special height-adjustable suspension system tailored for this car.

Earlier today we showed you ABT’s 730 horsepower take on the RS6. Now check out their other Geneva-bound car, a naughty little thing based on the Audi Q3. Known simply as the ABT RS Q3, the crossover features a prominent body kit, an insane paint job, and a power kit that boosts the output to 410 horsepower.

That is a serious amount of power from a 2.5 liter five-cylinder engine, and it’s almost a 100 more than the standard tune. Joined with 530 Nm of torque, that power catapults the Q3 from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and deposits it at 250 km/h where the limiter kicks in. Turns out power is the only cure for the Q3’s catastrophic dullness.

To make the car looks the part as well, ABT Audi RS Q3 is fitted with an aerodynamic styling kit consisting of revised front bumpers and grille, flared arches and rear diffuser complete with new tailpipes. The tuner has applied an interesting paint job to the show car as well, with a white base and black and red accents and stripes all over the body.

Other bits and pieces setting the ABT Audi RS Q3 apart include 21-inch rims, stainless steel sport exhausts, and height adjustable suspension.

The loyal tuner of VW Group products announces its upgrade program for the Audi RS5 Cabriolet. The elegant four-seater roadster does not get much in the way of power boost, as the 4.2 liter TFSI V8 engine remains pretty much intact. But chassis and suspension are professionally upgraded.

ABT Audi RS5 Cabriolet can be fitted with a sport muffler system and a new electronics that deactivate the top speed limiter, so you can use the car’s standard 450 horsepower output to hit 290 km/h. But those are all the performance tweaks you get.

In terms of chassis and suspension, ABT fits the car with height adjustable suspension springs which deliver a good lowering from 15 to 40 mm, or you can opt for the complete suspension kit with wheel spacers that result in a greater ride and handling, and a nicer look.

Visually, ABT Audi RS5 Cabriolet comes with fender inserts and a set of 19 or 20 inch wheels. Available designs for the RS5 include ER-F, ER-C and DR, with tire sizes 255/35 R19 or 275/30 R20. ABT has not revealed the cost of these upgrades.

As the most prominent tuner of Volkswagen products, ABT Sportline had to pay some kind of homage to the Golf at its 40^th birthday. And they did just that by revisiting a special version of the original Mark 1 Golf they had made in 1982; a powerful, wide body Golf fitted with a lot of extras.

ABT Golf I features massive flared wheel arches that result in a 7-inch increase in width and accommodate 205/60R13 tires. Today the car may look a bit silly, or as ABT puts it “peculiar,” back in its day it must have been awesome – the most muscular hatchback in the world.

The manly appearance of ABT Golf I is backed up by a powerful engine fitted with KKK exhaust gas turbocharger, autothermal pistons and a special crankshaft. It makes 163hp which in 1982 was a lot more than the standard Golf GTI of the time. Even today, this Golf is only 0.3 seconds slower to 100 km/h than the latest GTI.

Other bits and bobs fitted to this magnificent ABT Golf I include some steel wheel spacers, what ABT calls “super suspension”, and a white-leather sport-type steering wheel. It was the 80s, back off!

ABT Sportline has come up with a new upgrade kit for the Audi A8 luxury saloon which they say is inspired by old castles made by Bavarian King Ludwig II. We’re not sure what they’re on about, but the car they’ve made is definitely fit for a king. In fact, they go so far as naming it the King of the Road.  

The German tuner might have a point here because this ABT Audi S8 is a superpower in its own right, packing 640 horsepower and nearly 800 Nm of torque. That is a huge improvement over the standard car, which began life with 520 hp and 650 Nm.

To achieve that power they fitted the car with “New Generation” ABT Power module. The details of it are classified, but we reckon it has to do with electronics. A new stales steel ABT sport exhaust system has also been fitted, complete with a four-pipe ABT muffler unit.

ABT Audi S8 is also equipped with adjustable suspension system that is normally 25mm lower than the standard system, and a set of ABT ER-C or DR wheels in size 9.5 x 20 or 9.0 x 21 inches, shod with high performance tires. This is how they upgrade the chassis to cope with the extra power.

If the 380-hp Audi S3 by SR Performance we showed you earlier doesn’t float your boat and you want something from a well-known German tuner, check this out. This S3 sedan is tuned by ABT Sportline, and although it’s weaker than SR’s offering, you could say it looks slightly better.

That is probably because ABT Audi S3 is white and they’ve cunningly blacked-out the roof and but some dark grey wheels on it. That recipe can make a Dacia look cool, let alone a sleek German saloon car. These particular wheels are 20-inch DR models, but you can also get 19 or 18-inch versions. Smaller rims mean better ride quality.

The 2.0 liter TFSI engine of the S3 has been the main subject of this tuning program, and after some serious fiddling, ABT engineers have managed to extract 370 horsepower and 460 Nm out of it. Pretty good for a 2.0 liter, but as we know it is not this engine’s full potential.

Still, with 370-hp ABT Audi S3 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. The tuner has also raised the speed limit, from 250 km/h to 265.

ABT Sportline’s latest offering for a VW product is a sleek upgrade package for the Beetle Convertible. In this program the German tuner has focused mainly on the engines and provides power upgrade all of them. There are other improvements too, but they are rather subtle in comparison.

On the styling front, the Beetle Convertible by ABT can be ordered with an aero kit consisting of front spoiler, head light covers, tail light covers, rear panel and rear skirt set. Fitted with the ABT 2-pipe rear muffler and any of the available wheels – CR, DR and ER-C in 18 to 20 inches – this package gives the Beetle a mean and stylish look.

ABT has also done some structural work on this car, equipping it with sport springs that lower the ride height by approximately 30m front and 35mm rear, and bigger brake discs. These changes are in accord with power boosts offered for all the engines in the range.

Engine upgrade kits for the Beetle Convertible by ABT include the 1.2 TSI from 105 hp / 77 kW to 140 hp / 103 kW; the 1.4 TSI from 160 hp / 118 kW to 210 hp / 154 kW; 2.0 TSI from 200 hp / 147 kW to 240 hp / 176 kW; 1.6 TDI from 105 hp / 77 kW to 125 hp / 92 kW; and the 2.0 TDI from 140 hp / 103 kW to 170 hp / 125 kW.

ABT Sportline proves that they are masters of the art of hot hatchery with their take on the Audi S1. They took in the little city runabout with 230 horsepower and sent it out back into the wild with 310, plus upgraded suspension and aerodynamics. This S1 can now bully cars twice its size.  

Besides packing 310 PS and 440 Nm of torque, ABT Audi S1 comes with a subtle yet impressive aerodynamic body kit, a set of ABT wheels in DR- and Z5-Design and 8.0 x 18 inch size with 225/50 R18 tires, and  30 mm lower suspension.

To further enhance the looks, you can choose your wheels in gunmetal or matte titanium, compelte with red brake calipers. This combo works especially well on black S1s. Other goodies setting ABT Audi S1 further apart from the standard version include ABT fender inserts, special floor mats, and integrated entrance light.

ABT has not disclosed the performance figures of their hot little S1, but considering the standard 230-hp car goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 6 seconds, the tuned 310-hp car must be pretty quick – something in the low 5s maybe.

Even though with a standard 300 horsepower turbo engine the Volkswagen Golf R is one of the most formidable hot hatches ever built, ABT Sportline’s CEO Hans-Jürgen Abt believes there is room for improvement still, and he set about proving it.

He couldn’t have nailed it better, as what he came up with in form of ABT Golf R is a 400 horsepower monster trapped in a hatchback body. The car gets the new generation ABT Power S kit including deep electronic modifications plus new exhausts, resulting in an output of 400 PS and 480 Nm of torque.

To keep this beast in check you have rely on ABT height adjustable suspension kit (lowering: front 10-40mm, rear 20-45mm) and a set of 18 or 19-inch ABT Wheels, plus your own driving skills!

ABT Golf R also looks pretty tough too, what with aerodynamic kit consisting of front grille, headlight covers, mirror caps, side skirts, and rear spoiler. For the interior you have to settle for integrated entrance light and floor mats.

ABT’s latest Audi project is based on the elegant but rather dull A5 Sportback. This car is supposed to be a cheaper alternative to the A7, and it is, but it is also a lot less attractive. Now what ABT does is introduce a bit of excitement to the Audi’s design.

They have gone for a deep black accented with gloss red theme with ABT Audi A5 Sportback. The red accents are used to garnish the front lip spoiler, rear diffuser unit, and the outer lips of the rims. Speaking of the rims, they are ABT’s own 20-inch CR Design in black, wrapped with 265/30 ZR20 high-performance tires.

The package also includes a rear spoiler and a set of side skirts. ABT lowering module and tinted windows are among the other modifications that help improving the looks of the A5.

ABT Audi A5 Sportback doesn’t get any performance upgrades as such, but you can order the tuner’s rear muffler with four end pipes in black chrome. They not only enhance the soundtrack of the vehicle, but also look quite cool. ABT “Dark”-floor mats and ABT emblems on the headrests are also included in the package.
